The Patagonian War, also known as the Oil Spill War, was a war between Argentina and Chile between 1948 and 1950. Sparked off by the Arica oil spill near the Falkland Islands, which the Argentinian government accused the Chilean government of causing deliberately, the Patagonian War was a mostly naval confrontation with limited ground troop involvement.
